I want hw accelerated video rendering so I figured omxplayer was the way to go. This may seem a bit pointless,but I am trying to understand the streaming mechanism with a view to replacing the cat with nc, or some other mechanism to provide streaming. If I add -b then the screen blanks, so omxplayer is definitely able to send that change to the hdmi output Just sits there without even the courtesy of an error message. This video was chosen as example but it is happening with any video that I use and convert to mp4.I have an MP4 that plays just fine using omxplayer It plays fine in VLC on the RPi, but of course without hardware acceleration the video is very slow to play and lots of frames are dropped. The video is then played directly off the flash drive.

I downloaded this video using a YouTube downloader and then converted it to an mp4 using either ffmpeg or avconv on both Windows and Ubuntu 13.04. If you replay the video do the errors occur in the same position every time?
